Does anyone have any experience taking dutasteride, with or without AAS? Do you remember any side effects, physically or mentally? Thanks

I have experience with it, as I`ve used it when switching from finasteride when I was doing testosterone cycle. Dutasteride has very high half-life, so you need to front-load it. Expect massive shedding 4-5 weeks in, this shedding is normal and just means new healthy hair is going to replace it. Physically this was the only side effect. Mentally no side effects. I quitted shorly after the cycle, all my hair returned some time after ending the cycle. However, dutasteride stayed in my system for probably months after quitting, that`s how long the half-life is. I am now back on finasteride.

I have never taken it personally, but I do know that Dutasteride has a number of significant side effects that should be investigated before you jump on this medicine including impotence, crashed or decreased libido, breast disorders (including breast enlargement and tenderness), and ejaculation problems. Proceed with caution, and I would suggest talking to a doctor before starting a regiment.

Dutasteride is the strongest dht blocker that is available today, It is best to take dutasteride with a trt program, the reason being is because you are less likely to experience side effects due to increased dht conversion from the exogenous testosterone. The side effects that come from dutasteride like decreased libido, full blown impotence, breast changes, come from the lack of dht in the body and the body trying to compensate, dht is a sex hormone just like estrogen and testosterone, we know with crashed estrogen we get libido issuers and the same with low test, so we can infer that the lack of an important sex hormone will raise shbg and cause problems within our endocrine system. Thus leading to unwanted side effects, if you are not using trt or aas it would be better to use finasteride in the 1mg version

The side effects were horrible for me! Definitely not worth taking. I have ceased use for 5 months but side effects still are evident: low libido, impotence, low or no semen. It is basically a chemical castration. Stay away!!

The side effects to me at least aren`t worth it I`d steer away towards something different.

How much do you take this to keep the DHT at healthy levels? and other than lowering sex drive, what are other side effects if DHT is suppressed too much by accident?

Unless you have an enlarged prostate or you using a heavy cycle that doesn’t include any dht derivatives your just worried about the conversion I’d stick with the 1mg version of finasteride, at 1mg for most ppl it will keep dht at healthy levels. Side effects of major dht suppression will raise your shbg extensively, besides the possible erectile dysfunction, there’s a chance the body could compensate having a low sex hormone by raising another, in this case it would be estrogen. There have been reports of men using finasteride without hormone replacement therapy to balance out the body’s sex hormones developing gyno, so it’s best in the case of proscar to be on trt taking an aromatase inhibitor.

I’d say take 1mg unless otherwise prescribed differently, dht blockers are strong and you don’t want to experiment with it and get all the nasty sides. And as far as sides I’ve heard that it’s not low libido, it’s fully blown erectile dysfunction.

The 5mg proscar is going to be to strong. You wanna go with a 1 mg finasteride. 1mg will keep you at healthy levels with the Minimum sides. Believe me you don’t want to take to much the side effects can be rough like erectile dis function and a high chance of gyno.

I would start off at 1mg and see what happens. There really isn`t a meed to push it up to a high dosage especially to start off with. Give 1mg a chance to work then assess the situation. Good luck

1 mg is enough (divide pill into 4 parts, 5 parts division would be too difficult). Any more than 1 mg has almost no additional effect in supressing 5-AR.

You mentioned that you wanted to keep DHT levels in a healthy range, but you didn`t provide any context. Do you have an enlarged prostate? Are you on HRT / TRT and thinking long term? On a heavy steriod cycle including DHT based compounds? Please provide some detail and we should be able to give you a more complete answer to your question!
